Meet the Crew

The Sweetwater Staff will always greet you with a grin. We know exactly when you need help and when you prefer to browse the racks solo. We’re diverse, friendly and a little bit quirky. Both fashion and function minded—we know the hard and the softgoods.

Let us set you up with a board, an après surf outfit or just talk about the surf. Come on in!

Carleigh

Carleigh
Carleigh started working here in 2009 while also attending UNCW. She just recently moved here from the Jersey Shore to become an Education Major. She graduated in that field in May of 2012. While her passions and talents are mainly in her art and surfing, unfortunately she came to the conclusion that teaching isn’t for everyone, just the sane. She still pursues her goals as a free artist, a shop manager, and local cat lady.
Chris

Chris
Chris had just wrapped up his first year at NC State before working here in the summer of 2010. He is currently finishing his Econ degree at UNCW and is scheduled to graduate this May of 2013. Even though he currently bleeds teal, his heart is still with the wolves as the biggest NC State sports statistician. Chris is also one of the clothing buyers for the shop, head of the skate department, manager, and ginger beard.
Jason

Jason
Jason graduated with a degree in Biblical Studies with an emphasis in Philosophy. Between college and now, he traveled a heap, worked with multiple youth ministries and various retail stores. He started working at Sweetwater in 2005 as a manager. Jason spends most of his free time beating drums at local churches, spending time with his wife Stacey and their two grommets Jaden and Emerson, and finding any excuse he can to get in the water. He is now a general manager for the shop, a buyer for clothing and accessories, and a mountain man wannabe.
Lydia

Lydia
Lydia started working at Sweetwater in 2006 while attending UNCW. Over the years she followed her passion for film while obtaining a degree in Communications with a focus on Public Relations in 2010. Between then and now, she worked her way up the corporate latter to a manager position. She is still following her heart in film while working as one of the shop’s managers, our Toms buyer, and local gluten-free enforcer.
Shana-Danielle

Shana & Danielle
Shana and Danielle are Managing Partners and the women’s buyers here at Sweetwater. They both attended ECU for a year together but realized that the pirate life wasn’t for them. They finished school at UNCW together with degrees in Business Management.
Spencer

Spencer
Spencer started working back in the summer of 2006 as a persistent, quiet grom. He attended UNCW and graduated with a degree in Health and Applied Human Sciences while focusing on Exercise Science. While trying to balance his time at the shop, he is currently training for life, triathlons, and other various challenges. His plans for the future are to follow his devotion in the sports medicine field. At the shop he is one of the managers, clothing buyers, surfboard and surf accessory buyers, and shop “Steez” professional.
